First Thing To Do: Get Your MuAPI Key

This is the one step people miss. Without it, nothing works.

MuAPI is what connects the app to all those AI models. Think of it like a power cord — the app is useless without it.

1. Go to muapi.ai and make a free account
2. Copy your API key from the dashboard
3. Paste it into the app when it asks on first launch

You only pay for what you actually make. No subscription. No surprise charges. Most people spend almost nothing getting started.

Quick Fixes

• Mac users — if the app won't open, that's normal. Apple blocks apps it doesn't recognize. Open Terminal and run: xattr -cr "/Applications/Open Generative AI.app" — then right-click the app and hit Open. You only have to do this once.
• Windows users — if you see a warning, click More info then Run anyway. It's safe.
• Want to skip the app entirely? The browser version at dev.muapi.ai/open-generative-ai always has the latest models. Great for trying it out first.
